Anantara Siam Bangkok Finishes a $50 Million Rebuild of Every Guestroom

Anantara Siam Bangkok has finished a $50 million rebuild of all 335 rooms, plus spa and meeting space, and the new inventory is open to book now.

Anantara Siam Bangkok has completed a $50 million transformation of all 335 guestrooms, suites, and villas on Ratchadamri Road, with the rebuilt inventory now in the booking mix. The September 9 notice from Anantara Hotels and Resorts also covers meeting rooms, the spa, and fitness areas at the Pathum Wan landmark, which opened in 1983 to a George Wimberley design.

Guests shopping Bangkok for the next few months can treat the rooms as finished product, including Garden Pool Suites with private pools and the two-bedroom Jim Thompson Explorer Suite. The hotel stayed open through two construction phases, so this is a completion story rather than a soft opening.

What you can book now

Every Deluxe Room, Siam Suite, Anantara Suite, and the Presidential Suite has been rebuilt with teak, silk accents, and marble bathrooms. Breaking Travel News put the Thai-baht figure above THB 1.6 billion, which matches the $50 million English release. Rates were not published with the announcement, so compare live Anantara pricing against other Pathum Wan hotels on your dates.

The standout new product is the Garden Pool Suites and Villas set in the hotel's tropical gardens with private pools and indoor-outdoor living in the middle of the city. Minor Hotels' earlier plan called for six garden suites with plunge pools in the second phase, which ran from May to September 2026. The Jim Thompson Explorer Suite adds a two-bedroom option with teak floors, an open living and dining room, and a private library for longer stays or families who need real space.

Dining, spa, and events stayed on site

Nine restaurants and bars remain on the property, including Spice Market, Biscotti, Shintaro, Madison Steak Avenue, Guilty Bangkok, and Aqua Bar. The Anantara Spa was rebuilt around Thai healing treatments. The Siam Sports Club now mixes a Technogym gym and Pilates studio with an outdoor zone that includes a Muay Thai ring and climbing wall. The Grand Ballroom and meeting rooms picked up new event technology for weddings and conferences.

General manager Torsten Richter called the project a new chapter for a hotel that has anchored luxury stays in Bangkok for more than four decades. The 100-metre lobby mural by Paiboon Suwannakudt and 19 ceiling panels titled Heavens in Thai Thought were conserved rather than replaced, which keeps the building's character while the rooms move forward.

Why this matters for Bangkok travelers

Central Bangkok already has strong river and shopping-district options, including Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, Capella Bangkok, and Aman Nai Lert Bangkok. Anantara's bet is a garden resort feel on Ratchadamri without leaving the Pathum Wan core. If you want a private pool in town, ask for a Garden Pool Suite first. If you need two bedrooms, start with the Jim Thompson Explorer Suite. If you are staging a wedding or conference, confirm Grand Ballroom dates now that phase two is done.

Phase one through November 2025 rebuilt Montathip and Kannika Court rooms, Garden Terrace Rooms, the Kasara Lounge, the pool, the fitness center, and some ground-floor meeting space. Phase two finished the garden villas, Parichart Court rooms, Spice Market, the Kids Club, the grand lobby, the ballroom, and remaining event space. September 9 is the completion stamp.
