Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan has opened seven redesigned suites above the Ayung River valley, the first completed rooms phase of a wider refresh at the Ubud resort. Five Premier Duplex Suites and two Premier Family Suites are now bookable, with interiors by Hirsch Bedner Associates that keep the river views front and center.

For guests who already love this 1998 property for its suspended arrival bridge and circular "rice bowl" architecture, the practical news is simple: the first rebuilt keys are live inventory, not a future promise. Couples get a two-level river-facing format. Families get a suite with a dedicated children's room near the restaurants and Sacred River Spa.

What changed inside the suites

The Premier Duplex Suites run about 85 square meters across two levels, pairing a living and dining area that looks over the valley with an upstairs bedroom and a private sun terrace. The design language leans on hand-loomed textiles, dark-stained teak, and pale earth tones drawn from Ubud's rice terraces, with Lutron lighting tucked into the residential feel rather than shouting about gadgets.

The Premier Family Suites sit in the main building, close to dining and the spa, and treat kids' space as a real room instead of a sofa bed workaround. That matters at a resort where many stays stretch several nights and the valley setting is the point of the trip.

Why the rebuild approach matters for guests

Four Seasons says the project kept and refurbished existing structures instead of tearing them down, cutting the need for new materials. New LED lighting and updated air conditioning with lower-impact refrigerants land in the same package. Guests feel that as quieter systems and brighter rooms more than as a sustainability lecture.

General manager Didier Jardin framed the work as deepening the link between the rooms and the Ayung setting rather than reinventing the resort's identity. Sacred River Spa already carries a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating after its relaunch, Ayung Terrace holds a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, and the resort earned its first Michelin Key in 2025. The suite debut is the accommodation chapter of that same upgrade cycle.
