Six Senses Loire Valley Has Two Opening Timelines Guests Should Notice
Six Senses Loire Valley is listed for 2027 by the brand, while Les Bordes Estate says mid to late 2028. Here is what the conflicting dates mean for planning.
Six Senses Loire Valley has conflicting official opening dates: the brand's new-openings page still labels it 2027, while Les Bordes Estate, the project's home in the Loire Valley, says mid to late 2028. For travelers planning a French countryside stay, the later timetable is the one to account for before building an itinerary around this hotel.
This is a discrepancy between published plans, rather than a confirmed reservation date. Neither a year in a development listing nor an estate's expected opening should be treated as a guarantee that a particular room will be ready for a particular trip.
Why are the two versions so different?
The mismatch extends beyond the calendar. Six Senses' listing describes 88 suites and villas. The estate's current hotel page describes 50 accommodations, divided between the main building and lodges. Those figures should be attributed to their respective sources rather than combined into one supposedly settled specification.
For a guest, the difference is meaningful. The size of a resort helps set expectations for privacy, shared facilities and the feel of a stay. Until the operator and estate reconcile their descriptions, detailed comparisons with operating hotels would rest on moving assumptions.
What is planned at Les Bordes?
The estate describes a hotel built around its preserved château, with an 18,000-square-foot spa and interiors inspired by Alain-Fournier's novel Le Grand Meaulnes. Its wooded setting places the project in a different category from an urban wellness hotel: the grounds are part of the reason to travel.
Les Bordes also markets golf and equestrian facilities on the wider estate. Their existence should not be read as confirmation of what future hotel rates will include. Golf access, activity bookings and spa treatments are separate details worth checking when the hotel eventually releases its stay arrangements.
Should you plan a 2027 trip around the opening?
The cautious answer is to choose an operating hotel for a trip that depends on fixed dates. Travelers interested specifically in this project can keep it on a future shortlist while waiting for a common timetable and bookable accommodation.
There is still a useful distinction between looking ahead and making commitments. Save the idea of a château-and-wellness stay; confirm the actual opening, room inventory and cancellation terms before attaching non-refundable transport to it.
