Bantry Bay, South Africa
Ellerman House: A 13-key Atlantic-facing manor with two private villas in Bantry Bay.
Ellerman House is a small Bantry Bay house at 180 Kloof Road, set above the Atlantic rather than on the beach. The current rate inventory resolves the manor as 11 rooms and two suites, alongside Villa One and Villa Two for exclusive use. This is a stay built around South African art, the Wine Gallery and a deeply staffed house rhythm: it suits guests who want a private, residential Cape Town base more than those looking for a resort programme or a sandy doorstep.
Make the category decision before you book. A Classic House Room is 30 m² and specifically has no ocean view or private terrace; the 30 m² Superior has the ocean outlook but no private terrace; Deluxe Spa Rooms sit in Villa One’s spa precinct with a shared pool setting; Deluxe House Rooms add a private ocean-facing terrace; and the two House Suites are 102 m² with a separate lounge and dining room. The villas are a different proposition: Villa One is 696 m² across three levels and is sold with three or five bedrooms; Villa Two is 432 m², three bedrooms and sleeps six. Villa One has a lift, but the house does not make a broader accessibility claim.
Lock in airport details, the restaurant plan and spa time on day one. Return airport transfers, daily à-la-carte breakfast, a daily wine tasting, art tours, Zeitz MOCAA entry, minibar/snacks, pantry access, sunset drinks and canapés, gym/spa access, laundry and full-menu room service are listed on the accommodation cards; lunch, dinner, wine and French Champagne are not base inclusions. OneEighty serves lunch 12:30–14:00 and dinner 18:00–22:00, with the kitchen closing at 21:00. Curate has a live schedule conflict: its current card says Wednesday–Sunday while the contact page says Wednesday–Saturday; both cite evening service, so confirm a Sunday booking directly.
The spa is on Villa One’s garden level. Its current page and menu give Monday–Friday 08:00–19:00 and weekends/public holidays 10:00–19:00; advance booking is described as essential and the house asks guests to arrive 15 minutes early. Sauna, polar plunge and sensation shower are complimentary during spa hours, while treatments are extra. Main-house age wording conflicts between 12+ in the FAQ and “over 12” in the terms; do not book a 12-year-old into the manor without confirmation. Villa One accepts all ages and Villa Two accepts children over eight under the terms.
Book Ellerman House for a very small, art-and-wine-led Cape Town stay, especially if an ocean-facing terrace or a villa with a private pool matters. Skip the manor if you need a guaranteed child-friendly room, universal step-free access, a beach outside the door, or fixed bar and breakfast hours—the house does not publish those. Its retained traveler aggregates are strong (Tripadvisor 4.9/5 from 475 and Agoda 9.7/10 from 90), while Agoda’s 8.7 value score is a useful reminder that the many included house touches do not turn dinner and premium wine into an inclusive stay.

First day
- Send flight details so the included return airport transfer can be arranged, and use the house’s 14:00 check-in / 11:00 check-out as the planning baseline.
- Choose OneEighty or Curate before arrival. For Curate, confirm a Sunday directly because current official pages disagree on its weekly schedule.
- Reserve spa treatments early, arrive 15 minutes before the appointment, and choose your room category with the no-ocean-view Classic distinction in mind.

Category breakdown
Guests Love
House scale and service
The retained review evidence points to an intimate, exceptionally serviced house rather than a conventional large hotel.
Art and wine programme
The retained traveler evidence repeatedly values the art-filled house, guided art access and Wine Gallery as much as the Atlantic outlook.
Guests Warn
Value and category choice
The retained Agoda value score is lower than its overall score, and category differences—from a no-view Classic to a villa—are material.
Not a beach resort
The review evidence should be read alongside the house’s Bantry Bay setting: this is an Atlantic-view cliff house, not a hotel with a beach programme at the door.
The overall score is a review-count-weighted average of named public platforms, normalized to /10. Category scores — including cleanliness and location — are Hotel Flock editorial readings of those reviews, not a platform's private formula.
