Hacienda AltaGracia: A 50-casita, inclusive Costa Rican wilderness resort with Casa de Agua wellness.

Hacienda AltaGracia is a 50-casita Auberge resort in Costa Rica’s Talamanca foothills, built around a coffee farm, riding stables, chef’s gardens and Casa de Agua. Its inclusive programme covers meals, non-alcoholic beverages, scheduled wellness/adventure programming, core wellness facilities, trails and a Compa itinerary designer; it is not an unlimited-everything rate. Alcohol, treatments, private experiences and some transport variants need confirmation.

Choose casita by configuration and pool rather than category name alone. Casita King and Double Queen are 1,200 sq ft; Casas are 1,500 sq ft; Casona con Piscina is 2,300 sq ft; Casa Grande is a two-bedroom 2,350 sq ft family option. Casa con Piscina and Casona con Piscina explicitly print heated plunge pools. Casa Grande con Piscina is named as a pool category, but its own current detailed card duplicates non-pool Casa Grande copy and never describes the pool, so confirm it directly. The hotel does not publish maximum occupancy for its categories.

The food programme has six distinct settings but no public restaurant timetable. Grano is the chef-led culinary laboratory; Picoteo is family-poolside; Mercado provides all-day snacks, coffee and takeaway; Cienfuegos is live-fire dinner; Las Brisas is the adults-only infinity-pool venue; and El Cultivo hosts garden cooking/workshops and a chef-led dinner. In-casita dining exists but without posted menu or hours. Casita Barbecue is a private-chef dinner only for specified Casa/Casona/Casa Grande categories.

Casa de Agua is open daily 08:00–19:00 and is 16+. Its included core facilities include group Restorative Movement, fitness centre, sauna, steam room and hydrotherapy area; treatments are additional. The resort has two outdoor pools—family Picoteo and adults-only Las Brisas—plus Casa de Agua hydrotherapy water. Las Brisas has no published age threshold, so do not equate its adults-only label to the spa’s 16+ rule.

Book AltaGracia for a deeply programmed wilderness stay, with family and wellness options operating side by side. Skip it if you need restaurant opening hours before committing, a published year-round calendar, or a standard drive-in resort arrival. The scheduled SJO charter is widely described as included, but official pages conflict with transfer wording and local-airport timing; give flight plans to the resort and confirm the exact inclusion. The resort also closes for six weeks sometime from mid-September to November without publishing exact dates.

First day

  1. Give flight details to the Compa and confirm whether the scheduled SJO charter or a local-airport ground transfer applies to the booked programme.
  2. Set the first wellness/adventure calendar with the Compa, then reserve any treatment or private experience not covered by the inclusive rate.
  3. Choose dining and pool setting by the day: Picoteo is family-focused, Las Brisas adults-only and Casa de Agua 16+.

Guests Warn

  • Planning and transfers

  • Published gaps

Operational details such as restaurant times, exact closure dates and some room/pool specifics need a direct confirmation.

The overall score is a review-count-weighted average of named public platforms, normalized to /10. Category scores — including cleanliness and location — are Hotel Flock editorial readings of those reviews, not a platform's private formula.
