Singita Boulders Lodge: Sand River suites, private plunge pools, and an inclusive safari stay with important age and travel-rule conflicts to confirm
Singita Boulders Lodge sits beside the Sand River in South Africa's Sabi Sand, pairing glass-fronted accommodation with granite and timber around the riverbank landscape. Its three categories are River Suite, Bush Suite, and Family Suite. River faces the river stretch; two Bush Suites overlook a watering hole and the third sits farther back; Family adds a second ensuite bedroom, private outdoor dining and lounge space, a stone fireplace, and room for up to two adults and two children. Singita usually lists seven River, three Bush, and two Family Suites, while the current Singita accommodation table counts eight River Suites. Keep that 7/8 disagreement open with the lodge. No suite floor area, private-pool dimensions, villa, combined-suite, or Boulders buyout category is published. An opening year and designer credit are also unavailable.
Settle the child rule before buying flights. Boulders variously says children must be “over the age of 10” and “10 years and older,” so whether a child who is exactly 10 qualifies is unclear. Regional Sabi Sand family guidance separately says children of all ages are welcome, but it does not resolve the stricter Boulders wording, and the Family Suite's reference to young children does not create a stated exception. Guided safari walks have a suggested minimum age of 16 and remain at the Field Guide's discretion; children's participation in game activities is also discretionary. The lodge is in a malaria-risk area, drones are prohibited, and neither step-free access nor pet and service-animal policies are stated.
Settle the journey and calendar next. The Singita airstrip is about 10 minutes from the lodge, with the return road transfer included; scheduled flights or charters and transport to or from the reserve are extra. Johannesburg flying time is approximately one hour, while the road journey is approximately 6.5 hours. Scheduled-flight baggage must be soft-sided, but Singita gives two checked limits: 15 kilograms on the air guidance and 20 kilograms in its packing guidance, both with 5 kilograms of hand luggage. Confirm the operating carrier's allowance. Passport advice also conflicts, requiring six months' validity after arrival in one place and six months from departure in another; current government and airline requirements should decide the trip.
Check-in is generally from 13h00 and check-out is 11h00. For 2026, Boulders has a three-night minimum from 1 June through 31 August, and festive stays require three nights. The 2027 terms instead give all properties a two-night year-round minimum except for three nights in the festive season. Christmas Day and New Year's Day movements are especially important: the lodge says arrivals and departures are prohibited, while annual terms say they are available on request only. Do not schedule a festive movement until Singita confirms which rule applies.
All meals and beverages, including premium wines, spirits, and liqueurs, are included, along with twice-daily game drives, guided walks, laundry, Wi-Fi where available, and return road transfers from the airstrip. Dining follows a resident lodge programme without published meal times or named restaurant and bar hours. Personalised tastings can be requested in the wine cellar. A Boulders dining deck programme, interactive kitchen venue, boma, private dining, and in-room dining are not confirmed offerings, so request any preferred setting rather than expect it. Dietary preferences and special-occasion requests should reach the lodge at least 14 days before arrival.
Wellness treatments are extra and tailored in the lodge wellness centre; sound therapy is available on request. Treatment hours, room count, full menu, age guidance, and advance-notice rules are not stated. Each suite has a yoga mat and instructional card, instructor sessions can be booked, and the thatched fitness centre looks over the bush. There is a main-lodge pool and a private plunge pool at every suite, but no pool dimensions or hours are published. The Anti-Poaching Canine Unit visit needs at least 24 hours' notice and can change with live operations. Its donation currency differs between current and older material. Community visits also appear in two formats: newer guidance describes a preschool and Good Work Foundation campus plus a separate Hustle Economy experience, while older guidance describes weekday and school-calendar limits, a group cap, and a different donation currency. Confirm the current format and contribution.
Book Boulders for an inclusive Sand River safari, private plunge-pool accommodation, twice-daily drives, and a small three-category lodge where the setting matters more than published square metres. Skip it if the party includes a child whose eligibility cannot be confirmed, if a guaranteed dining venue or room-service programme is essential, if exact room or pool dimensions are needed, or if step-free access and pet rules must be settled from published specifications. Tripadvisor is shown at 4.9 out of 5 from 383 reviews in Google Hotels’ cross-platform listing; a Google-attributed secondary snapshot records 4.8 out of 5 from 98 reviews. The review-count-weighted result is 4.88 out of 5, displayed here as 9.8 out of 10. Recent guest themes centre on the riverfront suite design, attentive service, skilled guiding, and wildlife encounters; a small minority raise uneven food execution or sales pressure around the spa and boutique.

First day
- Confirm every child's exact age against over-10, 10-and-older, and regional all-ages wording; walks have a suggested minimum age of 16.
- Reconfirm seven versus eight River Suites, the booked category, and any access or pet requirement.
- Verify soft-sided bags, the carrier's 15- or 20-kilogram checked limit, and whether passport validity runs from arrival or departure.
- Resolve the prohibited-versus-request-only festive movement conflict before ticketing.
- Confirm the resident lodge meal schedule around game drives, request a Wine Cellar Tasting if wanted, and treat cooking interactions as activities rather than dining venues.
- Reserve priority wellness or yoga sessions because hours and lead times are not published.
- Confirm the current Canine Unit and community-experience format, schedule, group rules, and donation currency.

Put every child's exact age, festive movement date, carrier baggage allowance, passport-validity test, dietary needs, spa request, and any access or pet requirement into one written confirmation. Keep the seven-versus-eight River count unresolved, and ask for the current Canine Unit and community-experience format.
