SUJÁN Jawai: A private tented camp shaped by leopard country, granite hills and the living traditions of Rajasthan’s Godwar region
A Relais & Châteaux member, SUJÁN Jawai opened in December 2013 in Rajasthan’s Godwar region, roughly midway between Jodhpur and Udaipur. Canvas, stone, metal and locally made brushed-steel furniture sit against granite formations that the house describes as both billion-year-old and more than 850 million years old. SUJÁN also gives three bird counts: over 240, over 245 and over 250 species. The accommodation total is similarly unresolved. The house says there are ten tented suites and presents Rock, Felidae, Panthera and Eden, while its separate inventory lists eight Rock Suites and one Panthera, describes Eden apart and omits Felidae.
Choose the accommodation first. Rock is the two-person base tent; no private pool is printed for it. Felidae gives four guests two tents on a shared plinth and verandah. Panthera is the secluded two-person choice with a heated private pool, separate lounge and dining tents and a dedicated butler; its guest information includes an exclusive jeep, although its accommodation details do not. Eden is the private encampment for six, with two interconnecting double bedrooms and a separate nearby third double tent, plus a private chef, jeep, tracker team and boma. Eden’s card and guest information say its pool is heated, while the landing-page summary says only private pool. No room size is published for Rock, Felidae or Panthera, and no pool dimensions are published.
Use the first day to settle the practical details. The minimum stay is two nights and rises to three during an undefined festive season. Check-in begins at 2pm and check-out is by noon; an early arrival or late departure may require another night. Children of all ages are welcome under adult supervision, but the extra-bed policy contradicts itself at age 12: one row allows ages 9–12 an extra bed or separate tent, the next requires a separate tent from age 12, and the prose bars extra beds only above 12. No triple occupancy is offered. Send dietary needs ahead, ask for current meal and bar times because none are published, reserve spa treatments around their unpublished hours, and remember that room service is unavailable. Cover legs, shoulders and upper arms for temple and community visits, and leave drones at home.
For a direct nightly booking, the house includes accommodation for two, breakfast, lunch and dinner, twice-daily shared wilderness drives, laundry, bottled mineral water, Wi-Fi that is strongest in public areas, 24-hour butler service and return Falna Railway Station transfers. Drinks, tobacco, spa treatments, boutique purchases and excursion or leisure experiences beyond the included drives sit outside that inclusion. Conservation Contribution is described both as excluded from the direct rate and as something each SUJÁN stay includes per guest and night; the separate Rajasthan circuit package explicitly includes it, so ask how it will appear on a direct bill. That circuit package also includes walking safaris, village walks and temple visits that the direct guest information does not include by default. Riding, hikes, cycling, cooking, Junior Rangers, the bullock-cart jaunt, yoga and other experiences are offered, but their individual inclusion is not published.
The usual road estimate from Udaipur is approximately two hours 30 minutes on the property page and guest information; the circuit itinerary says three hours and once prints a garbled version of that estimate. Jodhpur is published as 165 kilometres and about two hours 30 minutes away, while Falna station is about 30 minutes away with return transfers included for two. The Jaipur–Udaipur flight is printed as 50 minutes on the property page and guest information and as one hour in the itinerary. If combining Jawai with The Serai, the same itinerary gives both four hours and approximately six and a half hours for that drive. These are reasons to use the transfer plan attached to the actual booking rather than building a tight connection from a generic circuit document.
Book SUJÁN Jawai for a two-night-or-longer camp rhythm built around twice-daily leopard tracking, intimate canvas accommodation and meals woven into the wilderness. Choose Panthera or Eden if a private heated pool and private dining setting are central; Rock carries no printed private-pool detail. Skip it if you need room service, a one-night stop, published spa or dining hours, guaranteed step-free access, or a fully itemised activity programme before paying. Google’s public place reviews currently show 4.7 from 695 reviews, while Booking.com shows 10 from three verified stays; the Booking sample is very small. Directly retrievable review material supports praise for the location, staff and wildlife experience. Google also surfaces service, property, breakfast, dining, location and rooms as prominent topics; a visible excerpt notes that some sightings were distant while still praising the drives and landscape.

First day
- Reconfirm the transfer tied to the booking. Falna is about 30 minutes away; Udaipur and Jawai–The Serai have conflicting official drive estimates.
- Check the accommodation name and occupancy. No private pool is printed for Rock; Felidae sleeps four, Panthera sleeps two with a heated pool, and Eden sleeps six.
- Ask for the current breakfast, lunch, dinner and Bar rhythm; no clock hours are published and room service is unavailable.
- Confirm spa treatment timing because no spa hours are published, and remember that treatments sit outside the nightly inclusion.
- If travelling with children, settle the exact age-12 bed rule in writing; all children require adult supervision.
- Send dietary needs, reserve any private or outdoor meal, and confirm whether the chosen experience carries an additional charge.

Guests Warn
Sightings cannot be scripted
A directly visible review excerpt describes some sightings as distant while still praising the drives and landscape, a reminder that wildlife remains unpredictable.
The evidence base is uneven
Booking.com contributes only three verified reviews beside Google’s 695, so its perfect score and themes from that small sample warrant limited weight.
The overall score is a review-count-weighted average of named public platforms, normalized to /10. Category scores — including cleanliness and location — are Hotel Flock editorial readings of those reviews, not a platform's private formula. Good to Know
- A two-night minimum applies, rising to three during an undefined festive season; check-in is from 2pm and check-out by noon.
- Children of all ages are welcome under supervision, but the published extra-bed rule is irreconcilable for a child aged exactly 12.
- No physical-accessibility specification is published for tents, paths, pools, spa or safari vehicles.
- Room service is unavailable, and the house publishes no dining, bar or spa clock hours.
- Return Falna station transfers are included for two; other transfer inclusions and timings should be confirmed against the booking.
- Temple and community visits require legs, shoulders and upper arms to be covered; drones are prohibited.
- The house says it is open all year and publishes no seasonal closure dates.
Editor's Note
Come for the granite landscape and twice-daily drives, but make the confirmation do real work: name the tent, occupancy, transfers, private-vehicle entitlement, meal arrangements, spa timing and activity inclusions before travel. Families with a 12-year-old should obtain the bed rule in writing, and direct guests should ask how the Conservation Contribution will appear on the final bill.
