Brij Tara Opens October 11 as a 17-Key Lake Retreat Beside Ranthambore
Brij Hotels opens Brij Tara on 11 October 2026: a 17-key IHCL retreat on nine acres beside Ranthambore National Park, centred on a private lake and villas.
Ranthambore gets a new intimate safari address on 11 October 2026, when Brij Tara opens on nine acres at the edge of Ranthambore National Park. Brij Hotels, part of the IHCL brandscape that also includes Taj, is launching a 17-key retreat of villas, cottages and suites, each with a private garden or heated plunge pool, arranged around a large man-made lake used for dining and outdoor programmes.
Co-founder Udit Kumar framed the property as a place for both the thrill of the forest and Rajasthan's slower rhythms. That pitch matters because most guests still treat Ranthambore as a tiger-safari stop with a lodge attached. Brij Tara is trying to sell a fuller stay: wildlife first, then river, fort, craft and lake dining without changing hotels mid-trip.
Wildlife and culture beyond the jeep
Tiger drives in the national park remain central, supported by a Story of Tigers briefing on territories and behaviour. The wider list includes crocodile safaris and cruises on the Chambal River at Pali Ghat, birdwatching at Surwal, horseback riding, guided treks and morning walks with a naturalist, plus visits to Ranthambore Fort and Trinetra Ganesha Temple. Cultural sessions cover Rajasthani folk music and dance, lac bangle making, tota-wala astrology and Dastkar Ranthambore crafts.
On property, guests can cook, mix spices, join arts at the Baithak, plant saplings, book Arama Spa treatments or start the day with sunrise yoga. Architecture leans earthy and mud-plaster in tone, with natural stone, handcrafted surfaces and jungle-inspired hand-painted walls rather than palace marble. The lake is both view and stage: high tea by the water, bush dinners and Dinner at the Machan on a raised platform overlooking the landscape.
How it compares for safari guests
Ultra-luxury travellers already know Aman-i-Khás as the tented benchmark in the same park landscape. Brij Tara is not an Aman sibling; it is a smaller IHCL-family lake retreat with plunge-pool keys and a dense activity menu. Dining runs through Tara Mahal for Rajasthani recipes cooked with khad pits, sigri coals and open fires, Mehfil for forest-inspired cocktails, Talaab for wood-fired flatbreads and charcoal grills, and a Jungle High Tea served in the jeep.
For guests planning a Rajasthan circuit, the so-what is calendar and scale. A 17-key opening on 11 October means early-season inventory will move quickly around park permit windows. If you want plunge-pool privacy, lake dining and safari context without a tented camp aesthetic, Brij Tara is the new bookable option on the park's doorstep.
