Danieli Reopens in Venice as a Four Seasons, With 48 More Rooms Still to Come

Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel welcomed first guests on October 7 with 120 rooms by Pierre-Yves Rochon, a new rooftop Terrazza and a spa due late 2026.

Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel is open again. The landmark on the Riva degli Schiavoni in Venice welcomed its first guests under the Four Seasons name on October 7, 2026, after months of restoration. It is the brand's fourth hotel in Italy, after Milan, Florence and San Domenico Palace in Taormina.

The hotel is run in partnership with its long-term owner, Gruppo Statuto. "We offer guests the unique opportunity to experience the grandeur of Venice in an entirely new way," said Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons president of global operations.

What is the Danieli, exactly?

It is three buildings joined into one hotel. Palazzo Dandolo, built in 1471 as the home of the noble Dandolo family, is one of the finest Venetian Gothic palaces in the city. Palazzo Casa Nuova once held the Treasury of the Venetian Republic, and Palazzo Danieli Excelsior completes the set. French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has redone Dandolo and Casa Nuova. The Excelsior wing is still being restored.

What are the rooms like now?

The hotel reopens with 120 rooms and suites and will grow to 168 once the Excelsior work finishes in 2027. Layouts are more spacious than before, with more Junior Suites and One-Bedroom Suites, and many rooms can be joined through connecting doors for families. Views face the lagoon, the canals or the rooftops.

Rochon's palette borrows from the lagoon: celadon green, soft blue, terracotta, ochre and powder pink. In the Dandolo lobby, the hand-painted gilded ceiling has been fully restored, along with the columns, stonework and grand staircase. Murano glass, terrazzo floors and Rubelli fabrics carry the local craft theme into the rooms, where the television hides in a media wall of art and objects and the curtains, lighting and climate run on automated controls.

Where do you eat?

Terrazza Danieli, the rooftop restaurant facing the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, has traded its dark finishes for pastels, azure accents and mirrors that bounce the lagoon light around the room. Executive Chef Adriano Rausa cooks Italian food with a Venetian accent, and many signature dishes are finished at the table. The bar leans on the aperitivo hour, with classic cocktails given a modern update.

What is not ready yet?

The Danieli Spa opens in late 2026 with three treatment rooms, one of them for couples, plus a sauna and a hammam. Until then, and while the Excelsior wing is under restoration, it is worth asking which palazzo your room is in and whether it faces any of the work.

How does it fit into Venice this autumn?

Venice is having a busy year at the top end. Airelles Palladio opened on the Giudecca in April, and Rosewood is reopening the Bauer on the Grand Canal. The Danieli's edge is its address: a lagoon-front palace a short walk from Piazza San Marco. Travelers who want a garden and a pool across the water will still lean toward Hotel Cipriani, while Aman Venice remains the quieter Grand Canal choice.
