Four Seasons Names Hervé Fucho to Lead Its First Dominican Republic Resort
Four Seasons appointed Hervé Fucho GM of Tropicalia on Playa Esmeralda near Miches, the brand's first Dominican Republic resort planned for 2027.
Four Seasons has named Hervé Fucho general manager of Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia, the brand's first hotel in the country, set to open in 2027 on Playa Esmeralda near Miches. The Sept. 29 appointment puts a nearly 30-year Four Seasons veteran in charge of a 95-room-and-suite resort with 25 residences on a 60-acre Cisneros Real Estate estate along Samaná Bay.
Fucho most recently served as resort manager at Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo in Mexico, where he helped build a sustainable farm programme. Earlier he was an executive chef at Four Seasons addresses in Punta Mita and Hong Kong, then moved into resort operations. Antoine Chahwan, president of hotel operations for the Americas, called out his mix of operational discipline and sustainability focus for a first-in-market opening on the Dominican north shore.
What Tropicalia will look like for guests
Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld designed the architecture and interiors in a tropical modernist language, with Gensler as executive architect and EDSA on the master plan and gardens. Bouygues Construction is building the project, which is targeting LEED certification. The programme includes a beach grill, ceviche bar, rum bar, spa, yoga pavilion and children's club, plus access to water sports, whale watching and sea turtle conservation near Los Haitises National Park.
The 25 three- and four-bedroom residences sell with hotel services. A Tom Doak golf course is planned for the mountainside after the resort opens. A working farm on the estate is meant to supply organic produce, honey, dairy and eggs to the kitchens, which is the same farm-to-table thread Fucho pushed at Tamarindo.
Why Miches matters more than another Punta Cana tower
Most Dominican inventory still skews large and all-inclusive around Punta Cana. Four Seasons is betting on the quieter Samaná coast and a limited key count instead. For travellers who want a branded ultra-luxury stay on the north shore without an all-inclusive package, Tropicalia is the 2027 date on the calendar. Link the destination page for Dominican Republic when you are comparing north-shore options against the busier east coast.
Fucho's brief is to open the house with sustainability and local culinary culture at the centre, not as marketing afterthoughts. Guests who follow Four Seasons openings should watch for firm room-category details and booking windows closer to 2027; the GM hire is the clearest signal yet that the Miches project is moving from renderings into an operating plan.
