Iniala Valletta Opens Solis, a Nine-Room Wing Carved Into Limestone
Malta's only two-Michelin-Key hotel opened Solis on 28 September with nine limestone rooms, a rooftop pool and Thai dining from Ian Kittichai.
Malta's only two-Michelin-Key hotel for two years running has grown by nine keys. Iniala Valletta opened Solis, a new wing carved into a restored limestone palazzo overlooking Valletta's Grand Harbour, to guests on 28 September 2026, according to Food & Drink Life coverage of the debut.
Solis sits just behind the hotel's flagship Harbour House in the UNESCO-listed capital. General Manager Claudia Schwarze said the team spent years trying to build something that could only exist in Valletta. Madrid studio A-cero framed the work as "excavated architecture," revealing a new layer inside the stone rather than dressing the old walls in a new style.
What Solis adds for guests
The wing spreads nine rooms and suites across three levels, from about 35 to 72 square metres (roughly 380 to 775 square feet). A central staircase and panoramic elevator organize the layout. Four categories run from Solis Rooms with Maltese balconies and Diptyque bath products up to the Solis Grand Suite, which pairs separate living and dining areas, a walk-in closet and two city-facing balconies. Some suites put a built-in bathtub on the balcony for an indoor-outdoor soak.
Iniala's creative director Greta Apap Bologna led interiors, including loose furniture and public lobby spaces. The palette tracks Maltese limestone, with custom stone surfaces treated as part of the architecture. Rates for a double room with breakfast start at €700 (about $795) a night.
Rooftop pool and Thai tasting
Up top, Solis Club's pool looks across Valletta and the Grand Harbour, with cabanas designed for the wing. Dinner-only Anaalā from Thai chef Ian Kittichai occupies the roof with a 24-seat indoor room plus outdoor and bar seating. The tasting path moves through Thailand's four culinary regions and pulls in seasonal Maltese produce where it fits.
For travelers already considering Valletta for a short Mediterranean city break, Solis matters because it expands inventory at a hotel that held the island's only two Michelin Keys without diluting the limestone character guests come for. The wing is bookable now through Iniala.
