Park Hyatt Plans Its Portugal Debut on Comporta's Quiet Coast for 2029

Park Hyatt will open its first Portugal hotel in Comporta in 2029, with 58 keys, villas and residences along the Alentejo coast near Lisbon.

Park Hyatt is heading to Portugal for the first time. Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Portuguese developer Coporgest have agreed to develop and operate Park Hyatt Comporta and Park Hyatt Comporta Residences on the Comporta coast, with an expected opening in 2029. The project sits inside the wider Comporta Beach Resort scheme in the Alentejo region, about an hour from Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport.

For travelers who already chase Comporta's low-key Atlantic beaches, the news means a residential-style Park Hyatt stay with hotel service rather than another anonymous coastal resort. The planned hotel will hold 58 guestrooms and suites, including two presidential suites with private pools, plus six two-bedroom villas and 22 fully serviced residences for private ownership. Guests and owners share the same pools, wellness and fitness spaces, padel court, kids' club and restaurants.

What the Comporta resort will feel like

Current plans put the hotel roughly 150 metres from the beach and beside the Troia Golf Course, an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr. layout with Arrabida Mountain views. Four more courses sit about 20 minutes away, so golf-minded travelers can treat the property as a soft base rather than a one-amenity stop. Bar Studio is handling interiors. Coporgest has described a spa with an indoor pool and five treatment rooms, three restaurants, a gym and underground parking, plus a desalination plant to supply pool seawater.

Beyond the Park Hyatt keys, Coporgest will market Luxury Beach Residences by Coporgest: another 31 villas and 49 apartments inside the same complex. Those units stay under Coporgest's own sales and operations, though owners still tap Park Hyatt Comporta's services and amenities. Portuguese coverage pegs the overall Comporta Beach Resort investment near 220 million euros, with construction already underway and a first-quarter 2029 completion target.

Why this matters for Park Hyatt guests

Park Hyatt Comporta extends a European map that already includes Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome, Park Hyatt London River Thames, Milan, Vienna and Zurich, and pushes the brand into Portugal's most talked-about leisure coast rather than only capital-city towers. Tamara Lohan, Hyatt's global brand leader for luxury, framed Comporta as a fit for Park Hyatt's understated, highly personal service: relaxed beach living, protected nature and a creative scene that has stayed relatively calm.

Hyatt also lists nearer-term Park Hyatt openings in Phu Quoc and Riviera Maya for 2026, then Mexico City, Vancouver and Taormina for 2027. Comporta is the longer-horizon Portugal play. Separately, Portuguese media have floated a second Park Hyatt project in Lisbon for around 2029; Hyatt has not formally announced that urban hotel, and presents Comporta as the brand's planned Portugal debut.

If you are planning Alentejo stays later in the decade, mark 2029 for inventory and residence releases. Until then, Comporta remains a low-supply coast where a Park Hyatt flag will give international loyalty members a clear booking path into a destination that once felt mostly villa-and-word-of-mouth.
