Serras Sevilla Opens Beside the Cathedral After a 37.7 Million Pound Restore
Serras Sevilla opened 11 September 2026 with 43 rooms opposite Seville Cathedral after a three-year, 37.7 million pound restoration project.
Serras Sevilla is open. The 43-room hotel joined Preferred Hotels & Resorts' Legend Collection when it welcomed guests on 11 September 2026, sitting at the foot of Seville Cathedral after a three-year restoration that cost 37.7 million pounds, more than 755,000 pounds per key.
The property occupies Casa Alvaro Davila, a landmark residence designed around 1915-1917 by Anibal Gonzalez, the architect who helped define Sevillian Regionalism. Interiors are by Eva Martinez. The project unites the original house with a neighbouring building by Jose Espiau y Munoz, keeping soaring ceilings, brickwork, ceramics and a light well of more than 158 square metres of star-shaped skylights.
Rooms, rooftop and dining for guests
Keys run from Superior Rooms to five suites, including Suite El Marques at 65 square metres, Suite La Giralda and Suite Casa de Davila at 70 square metres each, and The Grand Suite at 100 square metres. Many windows frame the Cathedral and La Giralda so closely that the Gothic silhouette becomes part of the room. Artisanal ceramic headboards, fringed curtains and custom mattresses made for the hotel set the tone. Soundproofing is a practical selling point on Avenida de la Constitucion.
Almagra Rooftop is the guest-facing signature: a private pool, restaurant and cocktail terrace with what the hotel calls uninterrupted views of the Cathedral and Giralda. At ground level, Madrid and Barcelona favourite fismuler makes its Andalusia debut inside the restored patio, with a seasonal menu tied to local producers. The restaurant's Seville opening in late September gives the hotel a dining draw beyond in-house guests.
Serras Collection president Jordi Serra Burges has framed the Seville arrival as a natural fit for the brand's person-to-person service model. Concierge programming leans on private access to the Cathedral, Casa de Pilatos, Real Alcazar, ceramic workshops and flamenco houses rather than a generic city checklist.
Why this opening matters in Seville
Seville already draws travellers for the Alcazar and Cathedral, but truly small-key, high-spend hotels beside those monuments are still scarce. At 43 rooms and a per-key investment above three-quarters of a million pounds, Serras Sevilla is aiming at guests who want a residential hideout inside the historic core, not a large convention hotel a taxi ride away.
For anyone planning Andalusia this season, the practical so-what is location plus intimacy. You sleep facing the world's largest Gothic cathedral, eat at a patio restaurant with a Madrid cult following, and use a rooftop that stays guest-only. That combination is rare even in Spain's most visited southern capital, and it explains why Legend Collection membership and the restoration budget both matter more than a simple reopening headline.
