The St. Regis Singapore Finishes Its S$44 Million Glow-Up With a New Presidential Suite
The St. Regis Singapore has completed a S$44 million redesign of all 299 rooms, adding Sophia, The Tea Room and a 335 sq m Presidential Suite from S$12,000.
The St. Regis Singapore has put a price on its multi-year makeover. The Tanglin Road hotel says the transformation cost S$44 million and covered all 299 rooms and suites, the ballroom and every event space, plus three new places to eat and drink. The newly finished Presidential Suite is the last piece of the project.
The redesign is by FBEYE International. Its founder, Warren Foster-Brown, was part of the team that designed the hotel when it opened in 2008. The new look takes its cues from the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site a few minutes away, with botanical greens, pale blues, floral motifs and crystal-cut glass lamps. The St. Regis Spa and the Cantonese restaurant Yan Ting were redone earlier, in 2024.
What is the new Presidential Suite like?
The suite fills the top floor of the 20-story hotel and measures 335 square metres, about 3,606 square feet. It has an entrance foyer, a living salon with a baby grand piano, a dining room with a Palissandro marble table and a bar trolley, a media room and a private balcony looking toward the city skyline and the gardens. Lithographs by Sam Francis, Marc Chagall and Mark Tobey hang on the walls. Bi-fold louvred doors let the living, dining and study areas open up or close off, and the primary bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and hand-painted botanical wallpaper. Rates start at S$12,000 a night, about US$9,400, with the brand's butler service included.
Where do you eat now?
Sophia is the new Italian restaurant, led by Chef de Cuisine Angelo Sergio, with recipes from 11 regions of Italy. Expect tagliatelle with porcini, bistecca alla fiorentina and a tiramisu from the family of Executive Chef Fabio Granata, along with more than 70 Italian wine labels and a Sunday jazz brunch. The Tea Room in the lobby reworks the St. Regis afternoon tea, with a tea sommelier brewing at the table and a trolley of unlimited scones, and a patisserie next door sells pastries and cakes to go. The St. Regis Bar rounds out the trio.
What else changed in the rooms?
The quieter upgrades are about sustainability. Blinds and air conditioning run on motion sensors, taps in each room pour both hot and room-temperature drinking water so there are no plastic bottles, and refillable full-size bath products replace the small disposables. "Sustainability is not a compromise, but an enhancement to the guest experience," general manager Nick Heath said. The hotel's 10 event venues, more than 14,000 square feet in total, were also redone with weddings and conferences in mind.
Is it worth booking now?
For travelers who want to be near Orchard Road and the Botanic Gardens rather than on Marina Bay, the answer is yes, since there is no longer any renovation work under way. It now competes directly with Raffles Singapore for classic grand-hotel service in Singapore, while Capella Singapore on Sentosa stays the pick for a resort-style stay.
