Awasi Mendoza: Seventeen private vineyard villas, a dedicated guide and tailored days between Mendoza's bodegas and Andes
Awasi Mendoza is the current name of the former Cavas Wine Lodge, now an Awasi property in a 55-acre vineyard at Alto Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo. The house describes 17 private villas; its January 2026 fact sheet instead calls it a 17-room property. Mendoza joined the Awasi family in 2025, which is not presented as the lodge's original opening year. Four sellable categories sit behind three accommodation cards because Luxury and Front Row share one page. The lodge's Fully Hosted model combines all meals, a broad drinks selection, a private guide and 4x4, daily tailored exploration and airport transfers within specified operating windows.
Lock the transfer, exact room and preferred days before arrival. Official pages put Mendoza airport at approximately 30, 40 and 45 minutes, while the house places central Mendoza at both 25 and 30 minutes. Current Fully Hosted sheets restrict aligned airport arrivals to 14:00–20:00 and departures to 09:00–15:00; the FAQ also says B&B includes airport transfers even though current public sheets advertise only Fully Hosted. Confirm Luxury versus Front Row rather than accepting the combined card, ask whether the fact sheet's every-villa hot-tub claim applies to those rooms, and remember that their roof is reached by an outdoor staircase. The current child wording welcomes guests aged 14 and over and directs younger-family enquiries to reservations.
Set the stay calendar with the guide at least 15 days ahead for winery visits. One daily Fully Hosted excursion may be a four-to-six-hour full day or two half days of two to five hours. The published activity pages do not always agree: Vendimia is February–April in the FAQ but March–April on the home and experience pages; Vallecitos summit ranges differ; the Andes horseback meal is asado versus empanadas and the route descriptions differ; Aconcagua is called a base-camp journey in one place and a Horcones-to-Confluencia trek elsewhere; sailing and Potrerillos headline durations do not reconcile with their component travel and activity times. The January fact sheet's olive harvest is absent from both current activity catalogues. Keep those versions visible and ask the guide which programme will actually operate.
Reserve the one house restaurant, cooking class, cellar tasting, live-music dinner and any villa breakfast by confirmed availability rather than invented hours. No restaurant operating times, weekly closure, seating, dress code or restaurant notice rule is printed. Fully Hosted includes all meals and a great variety of drinks, selected national wines, cocktails and mocktails; February sheets used the broader word all. The cellar tasting is expressly included for both Fully Hosted and B&B, while current public sheets no longer publish a B&B rate. Winery lunches, picnics and culinary workshops are supported experiences, not extra on-site restaurants. No dedicated room-service timetable is published.
The spa has two couples' treatment rooms, a wine-bath area, jacuzzi and sauna, but no printed hours, menu, treatment-inclusion statement, age rule or booking deadline. B&B expressly includes sauna and jacuzzi use; Fully Hosted says all experiences are included without specifically naming treatments. Check-in is 15:00 and check-out 12:00. Current rate sheets require a two-night minimum except festive dates but never state the festive minimum. They also conflict materially with the standalone cancellation page on season boundaries and refund deadlines, so ask reservations to attach the controlling terms to the confirmation. Current tax wording applies 21% to Argentine residents and describes a 10.5% effective total tax for qualifying foreign non-residents paying in foreign currency or with a foreign card; an earliest official file contains incompatible Chile and Atlantic Rainforest copy and should not govern a Mendoza stay.
Book Awasi Mendoza for a private-villa base, a dedicated guide, wine-country food and a programme that can pair bodegas with mountains, horses or cycling. Skip it if a child under 14 needs confirmed acceptance, rooftop access must be step-free, cancellation flexibility must be understood before deposit, or every activity time needs to be fixed from the public site. Google Hotels shows 4.7 from 783 Google reviews, and HotelsCombined shows 10.0 from 50 verified ratings. Current patterns repeatedly praise landscape, individual villas, staff attention, food and spa; the near-perfect verified set supplies little recurring negative detail, so official access, timing and terms conflicts matter more than isolated complaint hunting.

First day
- Reconfirm the private airport transfer, the 14:00–20:00 arrival or 09:00–15:00 departure window and which of the published 30-, 40- or 45-minute estimates applies.
- Put the exact plan inclusion in writing: Getting Here limits transfer wording to Fully Hosted, while the FAQ also includes it with B&B.
- Verify Luxury versus Front Row, the 90-square-metre shared specification, rooftop stairs and whether the fact sheet's every-villa hot tub applies.
- Confirm the age-14 rule for every traveller and obtain written approval before bringing a younger child.
- Ask reservations to attach the controlling cancellation schedule, season definition, deposit balance deadline, festive minimum and applicable Argentina tax treatment.
- Book winery visits at least 15 days ahead and choose one four-to-six-hour full day or two two-to-five-hour half days under the Fully Hosted structure.
- For Vendimia, confirm February–April versus March–April; for olive harvest, verify whether the fact-sheet-only programme currently operates.
- Have the guide state the actual Vallecitos elevations, Aconcagua endpoint and horseback route, duration and meal rather than selecting one conflicting web version.
- Reconcile sailing and Potrerillos headline durations with transfers, activity time and picnic before committing the day.
- Reserve the house restaurant, cooking class, cellar tasting, live-music dinner and any villa breakfast, asking for live hours and operating days.
- Confirm the current beverage scope, since March sheets say a great variety where February sheets said all.
- Book the spa directly, asking for opening hours, treatment inclusion, age and access because none is publicly printed.

Guests Warn
Very little recurring negative signal
HotelsCombined's small verified set is almost uniformly positive and exposes no stable complaint theme, so isolated criticism should not be promoted into consensus.
Scores bridge two property names
Current platform pages use Awasi Mendoza while many accumulated reviews were submitted under Cavas Wine Lodge, so the score spans the 2025 name and operating transition.
The overall score is a review-count-weighted average of named public platforms, normalized to /10. Category scores — including cleanliness and location — are Hotel Flock editorial readings of those reviews, not a platform's private formula. Hotel Flock is not affiliated with Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Trivago, or any other review site.

Good to Know
- Airport transfer duration is published as 40 minutes on the home page, 45 minutes in the FAQ and fact sheet, and approximately 30 minutes on Getting Here.
- The drive to Mendoza city is published as 25 minutes on the home page and 30 minutes on Getting Here and the fact sheet.
- Getting Here ties included transfers to Fully Hosted, while the FAQ says airport transfers are included for both Fully Hosted and B&B.
- The accommodation index has three cards by combining Luxury and Front Row; the FAQ and rate sheets establish four sellable categories.
- Current sources use Two Bedroom Villa; older official rate sheets call the same product Grand Villa.
- The fact sheet says every villa has a private hot tub; only Vineyard and Two Bedroom cards name one, while the Luxury and Front Row card lists a plunge pool and sun deck.
- The FAQ gives all four categories a private fireplace terrace; the Luxury and Front Row card separately mentions fireplaces and an outdoor stair to the roof without explicitly joining them.
- Vendimia runs February–April in the FAQ but March–April on the home and Experiences pages.
- Vallecitos is paired with summit ranges of 3,000–3,500 metres on one page and 1,400–2,700 metres in the detailed catalogue.
- The Andes horseback outing ends with asado and wine on the main Experiences page, but with empanadas and wine in the detailed catalogue; the home page adds breakfast and an optional picnic.
- The horseback outing has medium or long routes and optional picnic on the home page, but is labelled easy, six hours or up to eight with wineries, with no picnic in the catalogue.
- Aconcagua is called a base-camp journey on the home page, while the detailed programme is an eight-hour Horcones Lagoon to Confluencia trek.
- Sailing is labelled two to three hours overall but also offers 1.5- or three-hour sailing after a 40-minute transfer each way, which does not reconcile at the low end.
- Potrerillos is labelled two hours despite a 40-minute vehicle transfer, an approximately 12-kilometre ride, picnic and pace-dependent duration.
- February sheets included all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; March revised sheets say a great variety, while both include selected national wines, open bar, cocktails and mocktails.
- The FAQ describes B&B inclusions and older sheets publish B&B, but all current public rate sheets advertise Fully Hosted only.
- Current sheets require two nights except festive dates; the festive minimum is not published, while February sheets simply said two nights.
- Current rate sheets define high season as November–March and shoulder or off-peak as April–October; the cancellation page uses high October–April and low May–September.
- Current sheets offer high-season full refund at 45 or more days and shoulder or off-peak at 31 or more days; the cancellation page uses 91 and 61 days respectively.
- The group policy says 50% up to 120 days, 75% up to 90 days and the full contract value from 90 days, creating overlap at exactly 90 days; older sheets use another ladder.
- Current terms require the balance 30 days before arrival, while the earliest September 2025 sheet says 60 days.
- Current airport operating windows accept arrivals from 14:00; the earliest September sheet says flights should arrive after 15:00.
- The FAQ welcomes ages 14 and over and asks younger families to contact reservations; an older sheet applies a 14 minimum and an additional-bed discount for ages 14–18 that current sheets omit.
- Older files disagree on whether rates are per room or per person; current sheets clearly use per room.
- An earliest official Mendoza sheet contains Atlantic Rainforest lodging and Chilean resident or tax language contradicted by current Argentina sources.
- Across Biomes currently requires a nine-night trip and seven Awasi nights, while indexed copy exposes an older two-night minimum; Trilogy currently gives 12 nights and ten Awasi nights while indexed copy says minimum 12.
- The January fact sheet lists an olive harvest and lodge olive-oil tasting, but neither current Experiences page nor the detailed catalogue lists it.
- The house alternates 17 private villas, a 17-room property and generic rooms or villas without publishing a complete category split across all 17 units.
Editor's Note
Treat the lodge as a tailored hosted stay, not a fixed resort timetable. Put the transfer window, controlling cancellation sheet, exact room taxonomy, private hot-tub status, child eligibility, winery schedule and any seasonal harvest or mountain activity in writing before the deposit becomes exposed.
