Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo Adds Seven Diamond Suites and Bar Gustave

Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo refreshed seven Pierre-Yves Rochon Diamond Suites over Port Hercule and opened Bar Gustave under its Eiffel dome for cocktail hours.

Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo has finished the second phase of its multi-year restore, giving guests seven redesigned Diamond Suites above Port Hercule and a new bar, Gustave, under the hotel's famous Eiffel glass dome. Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer launched the wider programme in 2024; this chapter also delivered about 40 refreshed rooms and suites across the Prince Wing while the palace stayed open.

The suites matter more than a soft refresh. Pierre-Yves Rochon and SBM's design office returned to apartments they first shaped in 2004, when two floors were added to the Belle Époque house that has welcomed travellers since 1928. Soft aqua, blue and beige tones, Versailles-style parquet, Calacatta marble baths and botanical fabrics push the rooms toward private-residence living rather than classic corridor hotel stock. For guests comparing Monaco palaces, the Hermitage now sells suite scale and harbour views that compete more directly with sibling Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo.

What the Diamond Suites actually offer

Standouts include the Diamond Suite Princely at 283 square metres with three 15-square-metre terraces facing the port and Prince's Palace, a dining room for eight, a white-onyx master bath with hydrotherapy tub, sauna and hammam shower, plus Baccarat crystal taps. The Diamond Suite Presidential covers 151 square metres with two harbour-facing terraces, two bedrooms and whirlpool baths with sea views. Connected on request, the pair becomes 434 square metres with four bedrooms for groups that want a full floor without leaving the Hermitage for a villa.

Circulation was redrawn so butler service can move luggage without crossing the living room, and neighbouring suites can be reserved as a private floor. That is the guest so-what: space, privacy and Port Hercule light, not just new fabrics. General manager Guillaume Ranvier has framed the suite push as a response to ultra-high-net-worth demand for larger keys, following the revenue lift SBM saw after renovating Hôtel de Paris.

Bar Gustave under the Eiffel dome

Gustave sits in the Winter Garden beneath the Gustave Eiffel cupola, designed by Shirine Zirak with a revived terrace of checkerboard stone, wrought iron and plants. Head bartender Julien Lecharpentier built an Art Nouveau cocktail list heavy on forgotten spirits; the bar runs noon to 1 a.m., with live music Thursday through Saturday evenings. Guests who want a drink with architecture, not a casino floor, finally have a dedicated Hermitage salon of their own.

Phase work continues through 2030, with further rooms due in spring 2027. For travellers booking Monaco now, the immediate decision is whether to pay for a Diamond Suite with harbour terraces or a standard renovated key, then whether Gustave replaces a night at the American Bar next door. The Hermitage is no longer the quieter palace waiting for a refresh. The suites and the dome bar are already bookable pieces of the story.
