Mandarin Oriental Makati Reopens Bookings for a December 2026 Return

Mandarin Oriental is taking stays from 14 December 2026 at its new 275-key Makati hotel above Ayala Triangle Gardens, ending a 12-year Manila gap.

Mandarin Oriental is back on the books in Manila. Mandarin Oriental Makati, Manila is accepting reservations for stays beginning 14 December 2026, returning the brand to the Philippine capital twelve years after its previous house closed in 2014. The new hotel sits above Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati's central business district, developed with Ayala Land, and gives guests a 275-key urban flag where the brand's earlier Manila story left off.

That gap matters for travelers who still compare Makati on Raffles and Peninsula terms. Hotel Flock already lists Raffles Makati and The Peninsula Manila as the published ultra-luxury set in the city. Mandarin Oriental's re-entry puts a third global house on the same shortlist, inside a park-facing tower rather than a pure business bunker, with Club Lounge access and 24-hour butler service on select categories.

What the new house actually sells

Rooms and suites are framed as contemporary Filipino luxury: natural materials, timber, woven elements, and local craft, with flexible layouts aimed at multigenerational trips. Five dining and bar outlets are planned across Cantonese, Filipino, and international menus. Wellness is a full floor of roughly 800 square meters, with treatments drawn from Filipino healing traditions including Hilot massage, plus fitness and yoga space and a 25-meter outdoor pool overlooking Ayala Triangle Gardens.

Events capacity is large for a city hotel of this class. A 740-square-meter Grand Hall with eight-meter ceilings is designed for up to 1,000 guests, backed by meeting rooms and boardrooms, plus outdoor options through the gardens. The property is about a 15-minute run from Manila's international airport, which is the practical reason Ayala and Mandarin Oriental are pitching it as both a leisure and regional business base.

Why December is the date that counts

The brand's original Manila hotel ran from 1976 to 2014 and became part of the city's social calendar. The December 2026 return is therefore less a cold market entry and more a reclaimed address for guests who already know Mandarin Oriental from Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi or the London houses. Group CEO Laurent Kleitman has framed Makati as part of a wider Southeast Asia push into gateway cities.

For anyone planning a late-2026 or early-2027 Manila stay, the useful move is to lock dates from mid-December onward and ask which restaurants and spa rooms are live in the first weeks. Ayala Triangle Gardens puts retail, dining, and weekend markets within walking distance, so the hotel is selling a neighborhood as much as a tower. Against Raffles Makati's recent Two Michelin Keys signal and Peninsula's long local franchise, Mandarin Oriental's December booking window is the clearest new ultra-luxury open in the city this winter.
