Caldera House: Eight residential suites beside the Jackson Hole tram, with private-club access and fully equipped mountain homes
Caldera House is an eight-suite boutique hotel and Alpine Club at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, a few feet from the tram in Teton Village. Opened in 2018, it pairs Carney Logan Burke architecture with Commune Design interiors. The inventory is unusually simple but large in scale: four 1,500-square-foot two-bedroom residences for four guests and four 5,000-square-foot four-bedroom residences for 10–12, all with chef's kitchens, dining and living areas, fireplaces, laundry and outdoor mountain space.
Choose the named residence carefully. Yellowstone is the largest two-bedroom, Socorro the most private, Aira faces the tram and slopes, and Kari Kari looks toward Sleeping Indian. The four-bedroom layouts show three king rooms plus a bunk room, despite buyout shorthand that describes each as four kings plus four or more singles. Taupo and Newberry sleep 12; Pacana and Valles sleep 10. Taupo, Pacana and Newberry have private copper hot tubs, while Valles has a private infrared sauna and no listed hot tub. The shared water feature is a heated outdoor infinity plunge, not a conventional swimming pool.
Lock in dinner, wellness and ground plans early. Corsa serves nightly, Shin Shin only Tuesday–Saturday, and Southcable Café handles daily breakfast and portable food. Hotel guests may use the Alpine Members Lounge in winter; outside ski season it becomes an event space. Shared wellness facilities are available 24 hours, but treatments have no published timetable and require advance reservation. The 72-hour cancellation policy applies only to spa appointments. Caldera House uses both ski-in/ski-out language and more precise wording that places the tram and lifts a few feet or a short walk away, so expect slopeside convenience rather than a guaranteed door-to-slope glide.
Standard and Summit buyouts need separate conversations. The standard private full-house buyout reserves all eight suites for up to 60 and includes gourmet breakfast, valet parking, dedicated concierge service, Wi-Fi and business services, turndown, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. The three-night Group Summit package has a 15-guest partial format and a 30-guest full format with additions to 35, combining accommodation with meals, cocktails, meeting support, an event concierge and activities. Lounge event guidance also varies by setup: published event specifications list 50 seated or 60 cocktail guests, while separate house copy says events can reach 80. Package itineraries may include scheduled or complimentary transfers, but ordinary individual-suite stays do not carry a published airport-transfer inclusion; have the concierge confirm the exact arrangement.
For standalone four-bedroom stays, the published inclusions list dedicated concierge service, turndown, Wi-Fi, ski valet, and minibar snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Newberry also explicitly lists valet parking; the other standalone suites do not state it. Complimentary breakfast is explicit for full-house buyouts and winter club membership, not every individual suite booking. Restaurant meals, treatments, private chefs, private events and most guided experiences should be treated as additional unless the selected package states otherwise. General lodging check-in, checkout, cancellation, pet, accessibility and parking-charge terms are not published, and retreat-specific rules should not be applied to an ordinary hotel reservation.
Book Caldera House for a family, ski group or retreat that will use a true residence, values immediate tram-plaza access and wants kitchens, ski valet and a concierge-led stay. Skip it for conventional hotel rooms, a large thermal spa, a full swimming pool, broad nightly restaurant choice or fully published lodging terms before enquiry. Independent reviews strongly favour the intimate scale, suite design, mountain location, kitchens and attentive staff. A smaller recurring set mentions service coordination or food-order mistakes, while a few critical posts concern event handling or the private-club relationship. Tripadvisor currently displays 4.7 from 31 reviews on its own property page, while Hotels.com displays 10 out of 10 from three reviews. Google Hotels separately reports 34 Tripadvisor reviews, so that count discrepancy remains visible in the evidence metadata. Trip.com is excluded from the aggregate because captured UK and US pages showed 8.4 and 7.6 respectively from the same four reviews; both locales now show 8.6 from five, confirming that its regional score presentation is unstable.

First day
- Reconfirm the arrival transfer in writing. Scheduled or complimentary transfers appear in specific package itineraries, but no general airport transfer is published for ordinary suite stays.
- Verify the exact suite and sleeping plan: individual four-bedroom layouts show three king rooms plus bunks, not the four-king shorthand used in buyout copy.
- Reserve Corsa, place Shin Shin on a Tuesday–Saturday night and confirm winter access to the Alpine Members Lounge if après there matters.
- Set breakfast expectations for the next morning. It is explicit with a standard full-house buyout and winter club membership, not every individual-suite booking.
- Book treatments and note that the 72-hour cancellation rule applies only to spa appointments; treatment operating hours are not published.
- Confirm ski-valet handling and remember that the house uses both ski-in/ski-out and short-walk wording for access to the tram and lifts.
- If gathering privately, confirm the setup: lounge guidance is 50 seated or 60 cocktail in the published event specifications, while separate house copy says events can reach 80.

Guests Warn
Occasional coordination misses
A smaller set of reviews describes food-order errors, delayed car or luggage help, or service that did not match expectations for such an intimate property.
Events and club dynamics can divide opinion
A few critical posts focus on event handling or tensions around the private-club structure rather than the design and location praised by most hotel guests.

Editor's Note
The best stay begins with the exact suite name and the exact product. Separate the standard 60-guest buyout from the 15- or 30–35-person Summit package, and confirm ordinary-suite breakfast, valet and transfers rather than borrowing inclusions from club or package copy. For four-bedroom bedding, trust the individual layouts: three king rooms plus bunks, with a sleeper sofa added in Valles.
