Gora Kadan Dining Guide
Gora Kadan’s published food-and-drink program consists of Kaiseki Kadan, Sushi Kadan, Lounge Hanakage, Salon Seiran, the Saryo day-visit rooms and Shinonome’s room-specific private-chef service. Kaiseki Kadan serves resident plans and outside visitors; resident guests do not need a separate restaurant reservation, but meal location varies by room and Meigetsu and Senshin explicitly dine there. Sushi Kadan is a distinct eight-seat counter with one 18:00 sitting and Monday and Wednesday closures under the current dated notice. Hanakage is the named lounge and becomes a bar after 20:00. Seiran is a salon and library with a four-hour tea window, not another restaurant. Saryo is a set of three private Japanese rooms used by day-visit meal plans. Gora Kadan does not publish a separate general food room-service venue or menu.
Before you book dinner
- Resident plans described by Kaiseki Kadan include dinner and breakfast without a separate restaurant reservation, but Meigetsu and Senshin are the only categories that explicitly identify the restaurant as their meal location.
- Dinner starts no later than 19:00. Dietary restrictions and changes must arrive by 18:00 on the day before arrival, and same-day menu changes are unavailable.
- Sushi Kadan’s current 2026-08-26 notice sets eight seats, one 18:00 sitting and Monday and Wednesday closures; it supersedes older four-seat, staying-guests-only and Friday–Sunday wording.
- The Shunsai vegetarian course may include egg or dairy and is not represented as vegan, gluten-free or halal.
- The autumn 2026 matsutake variation depends on harvest and requires reservation by noon three days before.
- Hanakage is the named bar; Seiran is a timed refreshment service, Saryo is day-plan private dining, and Shinonome’s chef experience is confined to that suite.

Lounge Hanakage

Hanakage also serves drinks and light snacks and is one of the few facilities expressly open to outside visitors.
Room-served meals
Japanese room-card text says only Meigetsu and Senshin do not receive room-served meals. The English site publishes no separate all-day room-service menu or universal hours, so do not infer conventional room service.
Kaiseki Kadan

Sushi Kadan is the house’s dedicated sushi counter, not a kaiseki menu variant. The current venue page has removed an older temporary-closure banner, and the dated 2026-08-26 notice expands the counter to eight seats, accepts outside visitors, sets one 18:00 sitting and closes Monday and Wednesday. Those current terms replace an older official notice that limited service to four seats, staying guests and Friday through Sunday.

Hanakage is the property’s named lounge and bar, serving drinks and light snacks with garden views. The official facilities guide gives continuous opening from morning to late evening and identifies the post-20:00 period as bar service. Along with the gift shop, it is one of the only facilities the live facilities page makes available to non-staying visitors.

Seiran is a salon and library rather than a restaurant. The facilities guide gives broad room hours but limits the named tea and refreshment service to 15:00–19:00, including chilled matcha in the evening. A dated Hirota Glass exhibition runs through September 23, 2026 and is free to outside visitors; that exhibition access should not be read as permanent public access to every salon service.

Saryo is a real set of three Japanese-style private rooms used for day-visit meals, not another public restaurant with its own menu. The day-trip pages place participating guests either here or at Kaiseki Kadan. No separate Saryo timetable, menu, universal capacity or booking rule is published, so the assigned room follows the exact day plan confirmed by the house.
