Necker Island: A private BVI island for full buyouts or selected Individual Stay weeks, with every meal and drink included
Necker Island is Virgin Limited Edition's private-island retreat in the British Virgin Islands, normally booked in its entirety but opened room by room during selected Individual Stay periods. The estate is consistently described across the home, island, activities and wedding brochure as 74 acres; one section of the exclusive-use page instead says thirty acres, an unresolved owner-source conflict. Its core accommodation description is 48 guests across 11 Great House bedrooms and ten Bali Houses. Expansion copy reaches either 56 guests plus 14 children or 56 adults plus 14 children, while the wedding page says 48 adults plus six children. Another exclusive-use passage says as many as 28 bedrooms—11 in the Great House, 13 Balinese-style houses, a beach villa and bunk rooms—even though the current cards show 13 named Balinese sleeping rooms within ten physical houses. The four additional adult rooms, beach villa, second bunkroom and eight child beds beyond the public six-child bunkroom have no cards.
Choose the stay form before choosing a bedroom. Exclusive Use gives the group the island without other resident guests and can be requested throughout the year subject to availability. Individual Stays sell one room, suite or several rooms within a Balinese house while Necker is shared. The live page publishes these 2026 periods: 20 August–3 September; 21–28 September, starred; 20–27 October; 18–29 November, starred; and 20–27 December. Its note says “Check out only” for the starred dates. A still-live official 2026 PDF publishes a different calendar—24–31 May, 19–26 July, 16–30 August, 13–27 September, 20 October–1 November and 23–30 November—with every span starred and the same “Check out only” note. Do not combine the calendars; have reservations identify the valid arrival and departure dates in writing.
Families need a second confirmation. Necker's terms put “Celebration Weeks” beneath Individual Stays, and the FAQ says children are welcome except during adults-only Celebration Weeks. The current Individual Stays page, however, advertises Kids Club and family accommodation and does not label any of its dates adults-only. Children up to 12 are called Necker Squids; supervised programming is for ages five to 12, while younger children may join only with a parent or professional nanny. Babysitting is available at additional cost with plenty of notice. The Great House Bunkroom is explicitly a children's room for six, although its parent card says three bunks and its detail card says six bunk beds. Confirm both the child policy for the exact dates and the assigned sleeping arrangement.
Room choice has practical consequences. The Great House occupies the highest point, with a 1,490-square-foot Master Suite across the top floor and ten further bedrooms in a 390–570-square-foot range. Leha Lo stands 81 steps above the Great House, followed by more stairs to its Crow's Nest hot tub. Bali Lo, Bali Buah and Bali Kukila share a pool; Bali Hi, Bali Cliff and Bali Beach sit around another shared pool with additional private or house plunge pools. Temple Master, Temple Sunrise, Temple Hi and Temple Lo use Elders Temple's shared living, dining, bar and infinity-pool pavilion. The 2026 PDF and current cards disagree over “Room” and “Suite” labels for several Bali categories and over whether Bali Hi with Upper and Bali Cliff with Lower are combined suites or separately classed rooms. Put the exact bedroom names, bed arrangement and whether a companion room is included into the confirmation.
Dining is genuinely inclusive but not restaurant-led. Both stay forms include breakfast, lunch, dinner, all drinks including alcohol, 24-hour à la carte ordering, afternoon treats, late-night snacks and bespoke dining; the FAQ also confirms service in a room, suite or villa. Turtle Beach lunch is available from November through May only, and the Great House Roof Terrace is unsuitable for lunch because of the midday heat. Sushi is described variously as a floating sushi bar in the beach pool, Sushi Kayak at the Main Pool and a special Sushi Kayak lunch. One Sushi Kayak lunch is expressly included with Exclusive Use, together with one Disco DJ night and one exclusive boat excursion. Those three benefits are not expressly listed for Individual Stays, so the floating-sushi invitation should not be read as a guaranteed Individual Stay inclusion.
Samudra Spa sits between Red Dock and the Beach House and uses Sodashi products described as organic, vegan and cruelty-free. Treatments and sauna cost extra; one daily wellness or fitness class is included and additional classes cost extra. The spa page does not publish opening hours. The activities page says therapists are available 8am–6pm and that classes outside those times may be requested through the Spa Manager. The inline menu is mainly denominated in US dollars, consistent with the island currency, but four waxing items are marked in pounds; confirm the applicable currency before booking. Tint services require a test 24 hours in advance. No treatment-room count, spa age rule or accessibility programme is published.
Set arrival and terms early. Return boat transfers from Beef Island or Virgin Gorda are included; the detailed Beef Island route is a two-minute drive to the dock followed by about 30 minutes by speedboat, while no Virgin Gorda duration is printed. Check-in is 4pm and check-out noon. Necker's Individual Stay terms require non-refundable staged payment and strict cancellation, but their privacy clause repeatedly calls the property “The Lodge,” an apparent copied-property error within the Necker terms. Ask reservations to confirm which Necker clauses govern the booking rather than treating that name as another destination. Exclusive Use has its own deposit and cancellation schedule, extra-visitor process and privacy restrictions.
Book Necker for a whole-island celebration or a date-specific shared-island stay where meals, drinks, watersports, court use, tuition and airport boats are folded into the experience. It particularly suits groups willing to plan dining locations, spa and activities with the team rather than follow a restaurant timetable. Skip it if the trip requires arbitrary room-booking dates, a uniformly step-free resort, a fully published expanded-bedroom plan, summer lunch at Turtle Beach or a child policy that can be inferred from the calendar alone. Google scores it 4.6 from 83 reviews and Google Maps 4.6 from 174; the ratings are strong, though the public sample remains modest for such a private buyout-led island.

First day
- Confirm the stay form, valid 2026 dates and whether the period is an adults-only Celebration Week; the live page, PDF, FAQ and family marketing do not fully agree.
- List every assigned room and sleeper. Resolve the Room-versus-Suite wording, the Great House interconnecting pair, the children's bunkroom and any unnamed expanded inventory before arrival.
- Match mobility to the room: Leha Lo is 81 steps above the Great House with more stairs to the Crow's Nest, and Temple Hi is upstairs.
- Send dietary needs and choose the first dining location. Turtle Beach lunch runs November–May only, the Roof Terrace is not for lunch, and no routine meal timetable is published.
- Reserve Samudra treatments early. They cost extra; therapist availability is 8am–6pm on the activities page, the spa page prints no opening hours, and tinting needs a test 24 hours ahead.
- Confirm the included Beef Island or Virgin Gorda boat. Only Beef Island has a published route of a two-minute road transfer and about 30 minutes by speedboat; check-in is 4pm.
- For sushi, ask whether the floating sushi bar or Sushi Kayak is scheduled and included. One special lunch is expressly an Exclusive Use benefit, not an identified Individual Stay benefit.
- Set breakfast with the island team on arrival; the house does not publish a routine meal timetable, so do not assume a fixed service time.
- Confirm the applicable minimum stay and age-banded additional-guest terms in the active offer; the current site and still-live 2026 PDF use different sale-calendar material.

Good to Know
- Official pages describe Necker as 74 acres, while one exclusive-use passage says thirty acres. The owner does not reconcile the figures.
- Core capacity is 48. Expanded sources variously say 56 guests plus 14 children, 56 adults plus 14 children, or 48 adults plus six children.
- Only one bunkroom has a card and sleeps six children. The second bunkroom, beach villa, four additional adult rooms and remaining expanded child beds are not publicly described.
- The live 2026 Individual Stay calendar conflicts with the still-live official 2026 PDF. Confirm valid arrival and departure dates rather than merging them.
- The FAQ says Celebration Weeks are adults-only, while terms equate Celebration Weeks with Individual Stays and the current Individual Stays page advertises Kids Club without marking adult-only dates.
- Leha Lo is 81 steps above the Great House, with additional stairs to its Crow's Nest. No general step-free accommodation programme is published.
- Current cards and the 2026 PDF disagree on Room and Suite labels for Bali Lo, Bali Buah, Bali Kukila and Bali Beach, and on the split presentation of Bali Hi and Bali Cliff.
- Turtle Beach lunch runs November–May only. The Great House Roof Terrace is not suitable for lunch because of midday heat.
- Floating sushi bar, Sushi Kayak and special Sushi Kayak lunch are the owner's differing names. One lunch is expressly included only with Exclusive Use.
- The spa page has no opening hours; the activities page gives therapist availability of 8am–6pm. Most menu entries use US dollars, but four waxing entries use pounds.
- The Necker Individual Stay privacy clause repeatedly calls the property “The Lodge,” an apparent copy error. Confirm the applicable terms with reservations.
- Check-in is 4pm and check-out is noon. Included boat transfers depart from Beef Island or Virgin Gorda, but only the Beef Island journey has a published duration.
Editor's Note
Ask for one written schedule that names the stay form, valid 2026 arrival and departure dates, child policy, every assigned bedroom, airport boat, first dining location and spa appointment. The house's acreage, expanded capacity, Room-versus-Suite labels, Celebration Week age rule, sushi inclusion, spa currency and even one property name in the terms do not fully agree.
