Cheval Blanc Randheli is LVMH’s 2013 maison in Noonu Atoll: 46 Jean-Michel Gathy villas across six islands, reached only by seaplane from Malé. Villas sit over the water or on the sand, each with a Majordome. The Cheval Blanc Spa occupies its own island and is the Maldives house that runs Guerlain rituals. Art in the villas and on the lagoon is by Jean-Michel Othoniel, Vincent Beaurin, and Manuel Merida.
Lock the tables the calendar can take away. Le 1947, the 11-course French night in the garden, is Tuesday and Wednesday only, Island Chic. Diptyque, the Japanese and East-Asian dinner, is Friday to Monday only. If either room is why you came, put it on the villa reservation. The White is the everyday brasserie. Deelani is Italian over the lagoon, lunch and dinner every day. Carte Blanche is 24-hour in-villa dining, not a sixth restaurant. Guerlain treatments are extra — book the spa island with the villa if that is the point of the stay.
Confirm the seaplane with the house before you land. It is the only way in. Once you are on the island you do not need a car. Le Carrousel takes children from 3 to 12. The stay is not all-inclusive. Confirm whether breakfast sits in your rate. Dinners, the seaplane, Guerlain hours, and Leonor Greyl are extra.
Ask for the villa by name. Water, Lagoon, and Horizon are overwater one-bedrooms for two. Garden Water sits between greenery and the lagoon. Island villas sit on the sand. Two-bedroom plans are listed for four. The Private Island is the only category the house sizes: four bedrooms for eight, 2,200 square metres on its own hectare, a 25-metre pool, and a private jetty. The other villas have no official square metres.
Book this if you want a Gathy villa, a Majordome, and a Guerlain island, and you will time the stay around Le 1947 or Diptyque. Skip it if you want an all-inclusive rate, a tasting every night of a short stay, or a house you can reach without a seaplane.
