Les Prés d’Eugénie - Michel Guérard: A Landes Palace of gardens, thermal rituals and destination dining—with three distinct stays to choose carefully

Les Prés d’Eugénie is a country Palace at 334 Rue René Vielle in Eugénie-les-Bains, created by Christine and Michel Guérard in 1974 and now led by Adeline and Éléonore Guérard. The house describes 45 Palace rooms and suites across Grande Maison, Couvent des Herbes and Logis des Grives, with three restaurants, a Salon-Bar, La Ferme Thermale and seven gardens. For a sense of scale, one house description says 8 hectares and 5 historic buildings; another describes a 40-acre park with four houses or buildings. La Maison Rose is a separate three-star guesthouse, and Huchet Beach House is a separate coastal lodge stay; neither belongs in the 45-room Palace count. Maison Rose names eight Superior Rooms and four Junior Suites plus Classic and Comfort categories, while its history describes 36 rooms created in the 2019 renovation, so confirm its total inventory if exclusive use or a group block matters.

Choose the building before choosing the view. Grande Maison puts the principal restaurants and round-the-clock room service closest; Couvent des Herbes and Logis des Grives accept pets with a supplement, while Hôtel des Prés and Aile de l’Impératrice rooms do not. Classic and Superior are described as 30 and 32–36 square metres in the detailed room descriptions, yet together as 30–34 in the 2026 stay guide. Main Suites are given as 50–61 and 50–60 square metres. Suite and Royal child wording alternates between up to 12 and through age 11; Royal Mousseline is excluded from the published child place. Imperial wording alternates between one child under 12 and two children through 11 plus a baby. At Maison Rose, a terrace and kitchen appear in some English-language amenity labels but not in the fuller French descriptions, and only some Junior Suites clearly have terraces. Huchet lodges are described as 100–120 and around 120 square metres.

Lock dining, spa and family arrangements on day one. Restaurant Michel Guérard has held three Michelin stars since 1977, but closes Monday and Tuesday for dinner in low season and Monday in high summer. L’Orangerie's full menu follows its own restricted calendar even though Cuisine de Santé is available daily by advance reservation. La Ferme aux Grives normally closes Wednesday and Thursday, and Café Mère Poule closes Monday and Tuesday. The hotel gives Restaurant Michel Guérard 5 Gault & Millau Toques in one place and 4 in another. La Ferme Thermale is for ages 16 and over, is not included in the base room stay, and opens Sunday at either 8:45 or 9:00 a.m. depending on which current house timetable you receive; both close at 12:30 p.m. Spa contacts are likewise given as fermethermale@lespresdeugenie.com and reservation@lespresdeugenie.com.

Families need a dated plan rather than a generic promise. The Kids Room is open daily under parents' responsibility, while the staffed Kids Club is for toilet-trained children ages 4–10, holds no more than six, and requires advance booking and a confirmed place. The house gives 14 July–23 August in one heading, 20 July–23 August in the fuller 2026 program, and 20 July–22 August in one agenda listing. One description calls the club an extra; the 2026 program says activities and snack are included in the stay price. Reception should confirm both dates and inclusion in writing. Babysitting is extra and available for younger children.

A standard Palace stay includes the 25°C year-round outdoor pool, Bains du Jardin Nordic bath and meadow sauna, Fitness Cabin, hybrid and electric bicycles, seven gardens, 24-hour reception, concierge and outdoor parking. Breakfast, La Ferme Thermale, treatments, restaurant meals, babysitting, pet stays and arranged transfers are extra unless a package expressly includes them. Under the main booking terms, a 30% deposit is fully refundable more than 15 days before arrival; from 15 days until 48 hours before 3:00 p.m. it may be moved to another stay through 31 December of the same year, while definitive cancellation forfeits it. Cancellation 48–24 hours ahead forfeits the deposit; under 24 hours or a no-show makes every reserved night payable. Shortening the stay inside 48 hours or after arrival also leaves every reserved night payable, and Early Bird prepaid rates are nonrefundable. A second 2026 booking summary instead asks for 50% and says cancellation inside 14 days may move the deposit to another stay in the current year, while definitive cancellation forfeits it. The house also gives an opening season of either early March–early January or mid-February–early January.

Transfers are arranged rather than included for an ordinary Palace stay. The hotel's distance list gives Pau 50 kilometres, Biarritz 100, Bordeaux 140 and Toulouse 160; a second house list gives Pau 45, Biarritz 120, Bordeaux 140 and Toulouse 170. For timing, contact guidance suggests Mont-de-Marsan TER at about 25 minutes, Dax TGV at about an hour, Pau airport at 45 minutes, Bordeaux at 1½ hours and Toulouse at 2 hours; another Dax estimate is 50 kilometres or about 50 minutes. Les Greens d’Eugénie is described as both 2 and 3 kilometres away. Book the estate for destination dining, gardens and a thermal rhythm; skip it if a 16-and-over spa, meal-calendar planning, variable family logistics or written confirmation of booking terms feels burdensome.

Huchet needs its own contract and daily rhythm. Exclusive use requires both Rose des Vents and Alouette des Mers, with a three-night minimum, 50% deposit and balance 30 days before arrival; bookings made inside 30 days are payable in full. Cancellation more than 30 days ahead returns the deposit. From 30–15 days, the amount can move to another Huchet or Les Prés stay in the same calendar year; inside 15 days, 100% is retained. Brunch is 9:30 a.m.–noon, picnic is available from noon on request, afternoon tea runs 4:00–6:00 p.m., and dinner begins at 7:00 p.m. and cannot be served after 9:30 p.m. Surf, yoga and massage may be booked until 72 hours before arrival, but summer booking several weeks ahead is advised for surf and one to two weeks ahead for yoga or massage; cancellation inside 72 hours is charged in full. The included boat outing lasts 1½–3 hours depending on season and must be reserved before arrival, while a complimentary bicycle must be requested when booking. Well-behaved cats and dogs are accepted in the lodges with a supplement but are excluded from the Main House salons and dining room. The wild beach is unsupervised. Rose des Vents has an attic room for two children no older than 12, while Huchet terms define ages 3–14 as children and age 15 onward as adult. Dax is given as both 50 kilometres/50 minutes and 35 kilometres/35 minutes.
